The Internet is up in arms, violently debating each other as to whether the Gen Z-coded act of bringing an iced coffee to a job interview is acceptable. We’ve been getting a lot of inquiries on our views. So let’s break it down.
Job interviews are a means of accessing income, or money. Money allows you to purchase cold or hot cold brew from a cafe. By showing up to an interview with an iced coffee, you’re demonstrating that you DO NOT need their money. It’s like going to McDonald’s while eating a turkey leg. Completely unnecessary.
There is a big caveat here, and we mean BIG. IF the cold brew is a generous gift for the interviewers, you are allowed to do that. Generous gifts demonstrate you are willing to WASTE money on strangers, a highly employable characteristic.
